Dr. Matt and Dr. Hannah Sipola represent fourth generation Optometrists to staff the longest continuously operating eye clinic in Northern Minnesota. We have prided ourselves on excellence in eyecare and have cared for multiple generations of Iron Rangers, as though they were part of our extended family.
Dr. Scott Mescher, an Iowa native, graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1974. He then joined a group practice in the Quad Cities where he met his wife Claudia, now a retired elementary school principal. But the northwoods called and he has been in private practice in Hibbing since 1977. Dr. Scott was chosen by the Jaycees as one of the 10 Outstanding Young Minnesotans in 1985 and was voted Titan of Taconite in Hibbing in 2013 for his many community involvements which include president of Hibbing United Way and past board chair for the Hibbing hospital. Dr. Mescher has continued to update the longest established optometric practice in Hibbing, is a member of the Minnesota and American Optometric Associations and has taken many eye care missions to the third world. Besides his loving wife, he has been blessed with three wonderful kids that have become productive members of society, wonderful staff and patients and a belief that no matter what happens, someone up there is looking out for us. Dr. Mescher retired in 2016.
Dr. Don Sipola joined his father, Dr. Les Sipola, in 1973 after graduating from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL. Dr. Don specializes in ocular disease, refractive surgery solutions, and low vision services. In 2003, Dr. Don was awarded the Minnesota Optometrist of the year. He is a current member of the MN State Board of Optometry and a past president of the Minnesota Optometric Association. Dr. Don is also very involved in the community.
